CEN's internship Program: General information
The objective of the internship programme is to provide opportunity to acquire direct exposure to CEN's work. It helps the participants to enhance their educational experience through practical work assignments.
Internship assignments vary in length according to the availability and academic requirements of the intern, as well as the needs of the organization. Assignments are available on a part-time and full-time basis throughout the year.
CEN’s internship programme is coordinated by the Program Coordinators of respective units and a designated focal point is responsible for liaising with the relevant substantive programs for placement of interns. At the end of an internship period, both the intern and the staff member acting as his/her supervisor are required to submit an evaluation report to the designated focal point of the Internship Programme.
Interns are selected on a competitive basis. The following minimum qualifications are required: Enrollment in a graduate-level degree programme in a development related field such as economics, public or business administration, or environmental studies.
Applicants should be able to work in English.
Terms and conditions
a) The normal duration of an internship is two months, which can be extended for an additional period of two months by mutual consultation and consent.
b) There is no promise of employment either during or upon completion of an internship with the CEN or any of its projects.
c) An intern with CEN is not a staff member of the CEN, therefore they are not abided with CEN's organizational staff policy.
d) The intern is required to keep confidential all unpublished information made known during the course of the internship, and must not publish any reports or papers on the basis of information obtained, except with the prior written authorization of the CEN. The costs associated with the latter must be borne by the nominating institution, related institution or organization, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students; or by the student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his or her own arrangements for travel, accommodation etc.
