Clean Energy Nepal (CEN), a non-profit organization is seeking qualified and experienced Nepali citizen for the following position.

POSITION:                   PROGRAM OFFICER (PO)

NO:                              1

REPORTS TO:              Program Manager (PM)/Program Coordinator (PC)

PURPOSE OF POSITION: The PO works closely with the PC or PM and Executive Director in all thematic areas of CEN.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Development

Assesses proposals, including conceptual, methodological, operational, evaluative, and financial aspect

Identifies and develops research proposals

Incorporates, at the project design stage, plans for dissemination and utilization of research results

Explores the potential for support

Develop partnerships with other funding agencies to support program/ project activities

Project Management

Provides technical supervision, including analysis of interim reports.

Manages, in consultation with other senior staffs, the preparation of contracts, material purchases, travel arrangements, analysis of financial statements, adjustment of budgets and schedules, and project closures

Supervision

Directly supervises more junior professional staffs which may include Program Associates, Research Officers, Interns and administrative and support staffs

Others

Organizes workshops, seminars and conferences

Represents CEN in various meetings inside the country related to CEN's thematic areas

Performs any other duties required for the effective functioning of the organization

Attends public meetings and events to develop and maintain organizational visibility

DESIRED SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; strong personal skills; planning analytical and evaluation abilities; facility with computers and Microsoft Office, grant making and grant seeking experience; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; team player, outgoing averted personality, self-reliant but consult effectively with others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: At least Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science/Environmental Engineering/Environmental Management and at least 1 year experience in CSOs related to Climate Change, Clean Air and Water and Sanitation.

Able to facilitate trainings, meetings and workshops.

Good command over English and Nepali language and proficiency in MS Office Package

Excellent interpersonal relationships, communications and coordination skill to work effectively in multi-cultural settings with a wide variety of stakeholders.

DUTY STATION AND DURATION:

The contract will be for 1 year and based in Lalitpur, but should travel outside of Kathmandu as per the requirement. The employee will have to face probationary period of 3 months and shall be upgraded per the requirement and the performance after a year. Salary and benefits are provided as per rules of CEN.
