In Syangja, Clean Energy Nepal under the Youth Climate Catalyst programme supported by the UNDP Nepal supported a comprehensive community-based waste management initiative in Putalibazaar Municipality, addressing the environmental and public health impacts of improper waste disposal. The project reached over 200 direct beneficiaries and thousands indirectly through awareness campaigns, school programs, and engagement with transport workers. By combining education with practical interventions such as the installation of public dustbins and distribution of household segregation bins, the initiative fostered improved waste management behaviors and strengthened local ownership. The collaboration with municipalities and community organizations has laid a strong foundation for sustaining and scaling these efforts in other regions.
